When faced with a great fear or phobia, the danger we feel often leads us to turn to our faith and sing a prayer.

How does prayer help us in these circumstances?

Overcome Fear through Prayer

Fear is a natural process, which we all face at various times.

It is in fact a defense mechanism.

Our body sends us warning signals to enable us to react to a danger, real or perceived.

Fear can also be felt very strongly, in the extreme. It is then a phobia, with very intense manifestations, which vary from one individual to another.

It can be a panic attack, chills, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, paralysis ...

Fear actually originates in a part of our brain, called the reptilian brain.

It works like a huge database, where our past experiences and assumptions are categorized into two broad categories: danger and safety.

Whenever a situation seems potentially dangerous to it, the reptilian brain activates its protective mechanism.

In response to the physical symptoms, the mind also sets in motion, to analyze the situation and allow a reaction.

Faced with these critical situations, we fear an attack on our physical integrity, and sometimes fear the worst.

The reflex then occurs to pray.

How to pray effectively so that you are no longer afraid?

Prayer and faith can be a source of comfort in the face of fear.

Indeed, praying requires an effort of concentration.

To pray effectively and overcome your fear, it is important to breathe well.

Normalizing your breath is a way to relax your body.

The diaphragm plays a central role in the respiratory rate.

With a freed diaphragm and normalized breathing, less energy is used to send alarm signals and overcome their consequence.

Fear gradually subsides because the mind can concentrate better.

It relativizes, focuses on the vows made in prayer.

It is also a way to be able to regain control of your reptilian brain, to start self-therapy.

Because it is possible to change your perception of certain things, to re-educate the reptilian brain.

Emotions are relearned, associations corrected.

Notions thus pass from dangerous to safe, acceptable.
